PacificWest Dental Group consists of a group of dental specialists who spent two to three more years in specialist training after dental school to become experts in our respective field of dentistry. As board certified specialists, we are passionate in updating ourselves with the most advanced knowledge and skill to provide quicker, easier, and most predictable treatment options for our patients.
Our orthodontic patients receive the highest level of care and professionalism, through the strict set of standards that British Columbia adheres to for an orthodontist to be licensed to practice within the province. Each orthodontist is required to obtain a license to practice dentistry in Canada by successfully completing at least two years of advanced training in the specialized field of orthodontics from an accredited university and pass all provincial dental licensing exams in the field of Orthodontics. Only dentists with such advanced specialty education will be able to offer you and your family the specialized Orthodontic services you require.

Orthodontic specialist, Dr. Wang, is the founder and sole-proprietor of PacificWest Dental Group in Surrey and Vancouver. Dr. Cheng Lun Wang graduated with a degree in Dental Surgery from the University of Western Ontario in 1989.
After graduation, he completed an internship with the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, transitioning later into a full-time position with the I.W.K. Hospital for Children in Halifax and specializing as a pediatric orthodontist. During this time, Dr. Wang continued to teach undergraduate dental students from Dalhousie University, while also building a part-time private practice in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.
Dr. Wang entered the orthodontic program at the University of Manitoba in 1991. After three years of intensive Clinical Orthodontic training, he earned a Masters of Science degree in Craniofacial Biology in 1994.
An enthusiasm for continuing education has led Dr. Wang to share his years of professional experience on Orthodontic and Pediatric dentistry at various lectures and professional presentations throughout Canada. In addition to actively practicing lingual and labial Orthodontics in his private clinics, he also serves as a clinical instructor at the University of British Columbia (UBS) School of Dentistry. His clinical research has been published in the Journal of Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine, and Oral Pathology.
Dr. Wang’s primary focus is working directly with you to meet your specific orthodontic needs. Working with his orthodontic associates and support team, Dr. Wang practices out of two PacificWest Dental Group clinics – one in Vancouver BC and the other in Surrey BC.
Born and raised in Taiwan, Dr. Kevin Lee moved to Richmond, BC with his family in 1999 when he was 15 years old. As such, Dr. Lee is fluent is both Mandarin and English. Dr. Lee received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of British Columbia in 2011. After spending a year working as a full-time hospital dental resident at the Montefiore Medical Center in the exciting city of Bronx, New York (Yankees!), Dr. Lee came home to British Columbia, where he spent three years at UBC to complete graduate training in orthodontics. He also earned a Master of Science degree in Craniofacial Biology for his study of Dentofacial Morphology in Children with Obstructive Sleep Apnea.
Dr. Lee is proud to contribute to the education, health and well-being of his community, and spend a great effort in keeping up with the most current evidence-based technology to provide effective, efficient, and comfortable orthodontic treatment for his patients of all ages (children and adults). As such, Dr. Lee is experienced with both conventional braces, lingual braces (inside braces), and Invisalign®. He had also taken continue education to be familiarized with the latest technology involving skeletal anchorage device (mini-implant) and accelerated orthodontics.
Dr. Lee is a fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada, and diplomat of the American Board of Orthodontics. He is also a part-time clinical instructor of the Graduate Orthodontic Program at the University of British Columbia.
Dr. Lee lives in Richmond with his wife Dr. Sherry Liu, a local family dentist, and their daughter, Evelyn. In his spare time, Dr. Lee enjoys photography, cooking, movies, and spending time with families and friends. He also volunteers at Willingdon Church as photographer.
Dr. Daniel Cheng, DMD, MSc, FRCD(C), Orthodontics
Dr. Daniel Cheng graduated from the University of British Columbia Faculty of Dentistry in 1973. After practicing general dentistry in Vancouver for five years, he returned to post graduate studies in Orthodontics at the University of Western Ontario, London, Ontario; and obtained a Master of Clinical Dentistry degree in 1980. He became certified as a specialist in Orthodontics in British Columbia and has been in private practice of Orthodontics in Vancouver. Dr. Cheng is a member of the following professional societies: American Association of Orthodontics; College of Dental Surgeon of British Columbia; Chinese Canadian Dental Society; British Columbia Society of Orthodontics and the Christian Medical and Dental Society. Dr. Cheng currently mentors two Orthodontic Study Groups in Vancouver: Vancouver Orthodontics Seminar and Orthodontic Study Group #3
Dr. Samuel K. Chiang, DMD, MSc, FRCD(C), Orthodontics
Dr. Samuel K. Chiang graduated from Dentistry with a D.M.D. degree from the University of British Columbia in 1974 . After several years in general dental practice, he returned to graduate studies in Orthodontics at the University of Manitoba in 1979. In 1981, he received a Master of Science degree from the University of Manitoba. He returned to Vancouver to join Dr. Daniel Cheng to practice the specialty of Orthodontics. He is a member of the Canadian and the American Associations of Orthodontists. In 1992, Sam became a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, as well as a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada. Aside from clinical practice, over the years Sam has been actively participating in several study clubs in orthodontics, instructed and lectured at the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of British Columbia. He enjoys learning and practicing orthodontics.
Periodontic Specialist in Vancouver:
Dr. Cynthia Yee, DMD, FRCD(C), Periodontics
Dr. Yee is a native of Vancouver, who is able to fluently speak Cantonese and Mandarin Chinese, as she originated from Hong Kong. In order to achieve her goals of becoming a periodontist, Dr. Yee received her Bachelor of Science from UBC and her Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Alberta. After working in private practice for several years, Dr. Yee subsequently moved to Boston, MA, to further her dental education by enrolling at the Advanced Education in General Dentistry in Boston University. Dr. Yee then continued her studies at Boston University to successfully receive a Master’s Degree in Oral Biology and Certificate in Periodontics. During her training, Dr. Yee has been decorated with numerous awards, recognitions, and publications acknowledging her expertise in the field of periodontics.
Following the completion of her training, Dr. Yee has gained valuable years of experience in periodontal care by working in private practices in Boston, MA and Providence, RI.
